We got ripped off

Can't trust those dodgy Tijuanians! We did get a nice bottle of tequila, albeit US$5 more than it should have been and that was *after* the "$20 discount"!! We now also have a humungous sombrero (which we also haggled for and found out it was worth the lower price elsewhere anyway). Ooh, I forgot to mention that you can get 99 cent margaritas in Las Vegas - exxxcellent.

The trip so far

It's been a very busy 11 days since we left New Zealand. We have made it into the US thank goodness. Customs was a very intimidating process involving fingerprinting and photographs and several check-points with burly uniformed officers on patrol.

It is hot here but I've been told it's cooled down quite a bit since the heat wave. Hard to imagine what it was like then as we had 41 degree weather while travelling to Las Vegas and that was certainly hot enough for me. I am almost beginning to miss the Wellington southerlies!

Las Vegas is the strangest town I have ever been to. It's relatively normal during the day (apart from the odd roller-coaster attached to hotels) but come night it's one *gigantic* light show. And the pokie machines were great although I was a bit disappointed that many of the pull-levers didn't actually work. Gamblor's heaven.

Heading to San Diego tonight.
